Monsoon Weather Conditions Across Nepal

Nepal is currently experiencing the effects of monsoon winds, influenced by a low-pressure system located over West Bengal and its surroundings. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the weather across the country is predominantly partly to generally cloudy.

This afternoon, the entire country is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy, with chances of light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunder and lightning in some areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali Provinces. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall in a few locations within the Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali Provinces. The Terai and Madhes regions of Koshi Province are at risk of gusty winds.

Tonight, the weather is anticipated to remain partly to generally cloudy nationwide. There is a potential for light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in some hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali Provinces, and a few places in other provinces. The Terai and Madhes regions of Koshi Province may also experience gusty winds.

The Department has issued a weather bulletin indicating that within the next 24 hours, there will be a likelihood of thunder and lightning with light to moderate rainfall in Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Karnali Provinces, and in some parts of other provinces. There is also a risk of heavy rainfall in a few locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali Provinces.

The department has urged residents, particularly in the Terai and Madhes regions, to remain cautious of potential risks such as flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion. It also advised that these weather conditions might impact daily life, agriculture, health, tourism, mountaineering, and transportation, including road and air travel.
