In a remarkable feat of endurance and skill, Chhiring Sherpa, a world record-holding IFMGA/UIAGM and NNMGA-certified mountain guide, successfully completed climbs of all 14 of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks after summiting Mt. Cho Oyu (8,188m) on Monday morning. The Makalu region native reached the summit at 7:45 a.m. China time, marking the culmination of a career that has set new standards in high-altitude mountaineering.

As Managing Director and Expedition Leader at Expedition Base, Sherpa has become a globally recognized figure for his mountaineering achievements, combining technical mastery with leadership in high-altitude expedition management.

A Career of Records and Rapid Ascents

Chhiring Sherpa first gained international attention in 2023 when he set a speed record on K2, reaching its 8,611-meter summit in just 12 hours and 20 minutes. Later that year, he climbed four 8,000-meter peaks in Pakistan within 24 days, reinforcing his status as one of the world’s elite climbers.

His notable ascents include multiple summits of Everest (three times), K2 (three times), Kangchenjunga (twice), Lhotse, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum I and II, and Broad Peak, showcasing not only skill but remarkable consistency at extreme altitudes.

Contributions Beyond Climbing

Beyond personal achievements, Chhiring Sherpa has been instrumental in mountaineering education and safety training. He serves as a lead instructor at the Khumbu Climbing Center under the Alex Lowe Charitable Foundation and teaches courses for the Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association (NMIA).
