In celebration of World Wetlands Day, the National Nature Conservation Fund, Annapurna Conservation Area Project, and the Area Conservation Office in Jomsom organized a grand event today, February 2, 2025, at Dhumba and Titi lakes in Mustang. The theme for this year’s event was “Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future.”
The event, a collaborative effort between the conservation area management committees of Gharpajhong and Thasang municipalities, security forces including the District Police Office Mustang, Armed Police Force Nepal, 33rd Battalion Mustang, Thini, and local groups such as the Mothers’ Group and Women’s Group, included a series of activities aimed at promoting environmental conservation.
Participants took part in tree planting, cleaning drives, bird watching, and interactive sessions, highlighting the importance of wetland ecosystems. The celebration emphasized the role of wetlands in maintaining biodiversity and supporting local communities. The initiative received strong support from the local people and was marked by a spirit of collaboration and environmental responsibility.
