Nasong Rural Municipality has announced a new initiative to support students studying tourism and mountaineering. The municipality will grant NPR 50,000 to students for observation visits and field studies as part of their academic curriculum.
The Chairperson of Nasong Rural Municipality, Dhan Bahadur Gurung, highlighted that the grant will be available to students currently enrolled in Grade 12 at Prakashjyoti Secondary School, where tourism and mountaineering subjects are taught. “Each student will receive NPR 50,000 from the municipality,” Chairperson Gurung stated.
Given its Himalayan landscape, he emphasized the importance of tourism and mountaineering education for the region. “Being a Himalayan district, the subjects of tourism and mountaineering are crucial. Promoting these fields through local initiatives will be beneficial,” he added. The grant aims to encourage students to pursue these subjects and contribute to local tourism promotion.
Additionally, the municipality has launched a child savings program in collaboration with Prabhu Bank’s Nasong branch. Under this program, savings accounts will be opened for Grade 1 students, with each student receiving NPR 2,000 as an initial deposit.
Starting from the academic session 2081 B.S., Prakashjyoti School will also begin offering classes in English medium for Grade 3. To support students pursuing technical education after completing their Secondary Education Examination (SEE) from community schools within the municipality, a scholarship of NPR 100,000 will be provided.
Vice-Chairperson Bed Bahadur Gurung mentioned that students achieving an ‘A Plus Grade’ in the SEE from community schools within the municipality will be awarded NPR 20,000 as an incentive. The city aims to develop Prakashjyoti as a model school, making it a preferred choice for quality education.
