The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has announced that the effects of the monsoon winds, combined with a low-pressure system developed over the Bay of Bengal, are currently influencing weather patterns throughout the country. As a result, most regions are experiencing a transition from partly cloudy to fully overcast conditions.
Reports indicate that light to moderate rainfall is occurring in one or two locations across the Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces. The monsoon’s low-pressure line is situated south of the average location.
According to the meteorological forecast, the afternoon will see generally cloudy to fully overcast skies across the country. There is a likelihood of thunderstorms and rainfall ranging from light to moderate in various regions. Heavy rainfall is expected in one or two areas of the Koshi, Madhesh, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces. Additionally, some locations in the Terai region may experience strong winds.
Tonight, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy to completely overcast nationwide. The Koshi, Bagmati, Madhes, Gandaki, and Sudurpashchim provinces could experience thunderstorms and rainfall from light to moderate intensity. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated in one or two locations in the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Furthermore, there is a possibility of strong winds in some areas of the Terai.
Over the next 24 hours, thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rainfall are expected across several locations in all provinces. Heavy rainfall is likely in one or two areas, particularly in the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, where very heavy rainfall may also occur.
The department has issued a warning to residents of potential flooding, landslides, urban flooding, and inundation in the Terai regions due to rising water levels in both large and small rivers, streams, and tributaries. All concerned authorities and the public are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
