Nepal Airlines’ Wide-Body Aircraft Undergoes Complete C-Check

Nepal Airlines Corporation’s wide-body aircraft has successfully undergone a complete C-check, thanks to the initiative taken by the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Hit Bahadur Tamang. The C-check was granted following a series of discussions and directives from Minister Tamang, involving the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and the Executive Chairman of Nepal Airlines.

Minister Tamang convened with CAAN and Nepal Airlines officials at Singha Durbar, where he was briefed on the latest status of the aircraft’s maintenance and issued directives to expedite the C-check process. This development follows CAAN’s previous refusal to authorize the C-check after the aircraft, identified by its call sign 9N-NYY, was flown to Italy via Dubai without permission.

Prem Nath Thakur, Deputy Director General of CAAN’s Air Service Directorate, confirmed that CAAN has now granted the necessary approval for the C-check. On June 22, Nepal Airlines sent one of its wide-body aircraft to Italy for maintenance via Dubai. The aircraft is expected to return to service within 30 days following completion of the maintenance by the Italian company, Atitech S.p.A.

Ramesh Paudel, spokesperson for Nepal Airlines, informed Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) that the corporation has received the official approval letter from CAAN for the C-check. The 9N-NYY aircraft, which had been grounded since June 25 due to the lack of a C-check, will resume operations once maintenance is completed. Additionally, Nepal Airlines plans to send its other A330 aircraft, call sign 9N-ALZ, to the same maintenance company by the end of July 2024 for similar servicing.
