Nepal’s luxury hospitality industry has broadened its global recognition, with three hotels featured in the 2026 MICHELIN Key selection, bringing the country’s total of recognized properties to three. The Dwarika’s Kathmandu, Dwarika’s Sanctuary in Dhulikhel and Shinta Mani Mustang have each been awarded One MICHELIN Key, per the latest selection revealed by the MICHELIN Guide. This recognition brings properties showcasing Kathmandu’s cultural heritage, Dhulikhel’s wellness tourism and Mustang’s high-end Himalayan travel into the global MICHELIN hotel selection.
The MICHELIN Guide revealed its 2026 global hotel selection on September 18, 2026, with 2,832 hotels around the world holding MICHELIN Keys. Among them, 2,020 properties hold One Key, 657 hold Two Keys and 155 hold Three Keys. This year’s selection added 470 hotels across 79 destinations, further broadening the global recognition programme for outstanding hospitality.
Shinta Mani Mustang Becomes Nepal’s Newest MICHELIN Key Hotel
Shinta Mani Mustang, situated in Jomsom in the Kali Gandaki Valley, is the most recent Nepali property to join the MICHELIN Key selection. The hotel joins The Dwarika’s Kathmandu and Dwarika’s Sanctuary, which were already recognised in the 2025 MICHELIN Key selection, lifting Nepal’s representation from two hotels to three. Its addition also carries MICHELIN-recognised hospitality beyond the Kathmandu Valley into one of Nepal’s remote Himalayan tourism destinations.
The 29-room property pairs luxury accommodation with Mustang’s rugged mountain landscape and local character. Designed with the participation of internationally renowned hotel designer Bill Bensley, the hotel offers locally inspired interiors, original artworks and handcrafted furnishings that draw on Mustang’s culture and landscape. Its facilities and experiences also encompass wellness services, traditional Nepali therapies, locally influenced cuisine and outdoor activities such as trekking, horse riding and excursions through the surrounding Himalayan region.
Dwarika’s Kathmandu Continues Cultural Heritage Legacy
The Dwarika’s Kathmandu remains one of Nepal’s internationally recognised luxury hotels, with its Key recognition carrying over from the previous selection. The property was one of the first two hotels in Nepal to receive a Key in 2025, a recognition that reflects its commitment to preserving Nepal’s traditional architecture, craftsmanship and cultural heritage while running as a luxury hotel.
This Kathmandu property was established by the late Dwarika Das Shrestha, whose efforts centered on preserving traditional Nepali architectural elements and craftsmanship. Its collection of historic carved woodwork and traditional design shapes its identity as a culturally oriented luxury property, which also offers rooms and suites, restaurants, a swimming pool, Ayurvedic wellness services and yoga programs. The hotel’s ongoing recognition keeps Kathmandu present in the global MICHELIN hotel selection through a property deeply tied to Nepal’s architectural and cultural heritage.
Dwarika’s Sanctuary Highlights Wellness Tourism
Dwarika’s Sanctuary in Dhulikhel has likewise kept its One MICHELIN Key recognition in the 2026 selection. Situated in the hills of Dhulikhel, the property blends a retreat-style setting with architecture inspired by traditional Newar building practices. The MICHELIN Guide characterizes the property as a wellness-oriented escape built with materials such as wood, earth and stone, while also using practices like rainwater harvesting and solar energy.
The sanctuary’s wellness offering features yoga spaces, an Ayurvedic spa, a Himalayan salt room, meditation facilities and traditional wellness treatments. Its positioning brings a distinct wellness tourism dimension to Nepal’s MICHELIN recognised hotel portfolio, balancing the cultural heritage emphasis of the Kathmandu property and the Himalayan adventure and luxury experience provided by Shinta Mani Mustang.

The three MICHELIN Key properties stand for different segments of Nepal’s expanding high-end tourism market.
