Nepal Culture Study and Research Council Grants Scholarships to Tribhuvan University Students

The Nepal Culture Study and Research Council has announced that it will provide scholarships to two postgraduate students at the Central Department of Culture at Tribhuvan University.

Council President and senior folk singer Bambahadur Karki revealed that each of the two students will receive a scholarship covering their tuition fees for all four semesters, amounting to NPR 37,000. On Tuesday, a check for the scholarship amount was handed over to Dr. Maheshkumar Acharya, the head of the Central Department of Culture at Tribhuvan University. The scholarships will be awarded to Pramila Bohara and Shyamkumar Bohara, who graduated with the highest marks in their bachelor’s degrees in culture studies.

President Karki stated that the decision to provide scholarships aims to connect cultural practices with the academic work of the Culture Department at Tribhuvan University.

Dr. Acharya, the department head, expressed that the scholarships will further enhance the appeal of studying culture, a subject often seen as a reflection of society. Currently, the department has 40 postgraduate students and approximately 50 Ph.D. candidates. In addition to these new scholarships, the department also awards the Balkrishna Rizal Memorial Scholarship to outstanding postgraduate researchers.
