Nepal Embassy in Muscat Organizes Peace Walk, Beach Cleaning and Republic Day Celebrations Alongside e-Museum Launch

The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat organized a Peace Walk and Beach Cleaning programme at Qurum Beach on 29 May 2026 to mark International Everest Day. The Peace Walk was held early in the morning, beginning at 5:00 a.m. from the backside of the W Hotel and continuing along the beach area.

The programme witnessed participation from representatives of Non-Resident Nepali social clubs, Nepali associations, as well as interested Nepali and foreign friends. As part of the initiative, participants actively engaged in beach cleaning activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness and coastal conservation.

Organizers stated that the Peace Walk was designed not only to commemorate International Everest Day but also to highlight the importance of environmental protection and community engagement among the Nepali diaspora in Oman.

Ambassador Aryal Highlights Unity and Positive Community Image during Peace Walk

Speaking after the Peace Walk programme, Ambassador of Nepal to Oman, Dornath Aryal, expressed gratitude to all participants for their active involvement. He emphasized that such initiatives help strengthen unity among the Nepali community while also contributing to building a positive image of Nepalese residents in Oman.

He further noted that collective participation in environmental and social activities reflects the values of responsibility, cooperation, and global citizenship within the diaspora community.

Republic Day Celebrated Alongside Everest Day

This year, International Everest Day coincided with Nepal’s Republic Day, leading the Embassy to organize a special ceremony to mark the national occasion.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Aryal hoisted the national flag of Nepal, symbolizing national pride and unity. He also addressed the gathering, highlighting the historical significance of Republic Day and the democratic transformation of Nepal.

In his remarks, he underscored the key features of Nepal’s constitution and the republican system, emphasizing its role in ensuring governance, inclusion, and democratic values in the country. Members of the Nepali community attended the Peace Walk programme wearing national and traditional attire, adding cultural vibrancy to the celebration.

Launch of Embassy e-Museum to Preserve Historical Records

On the occasion, Ambassador Aryal formally inaugurated the Embassy’s e-Museum by pressing the button of a kiosk machine, marking the digital launch of the initiative. Speaking about the e-Museum, he explained the rationale behind its establishment, stating that it would serve as a valuable platform for preserving historical documents, facts, and records related to Nepal and its diplomatic engagements.

He expressed confidence that the initiative would contribute to strengthening Nepal–Oman bilateral relations and serve as an accessible archive for researchers, students, and the Nepali diaspora. Ambassador Aryal also encouraged participants to explore the available digital materials and provide feedback for further improvement and enrichment of the platform.

Embassy Highlights Efforts Behind e-Museum Development

First Secretary and Coordinator of the e-Museum Establishment Committee, Mr. Bishesh Kumar Sah, provided an overview of the efforts undertaken to collect and organize information, documents, and archival materials for the museum. He informed attendees that the e-Museum would soon be made accessible through the Embassy’s official website, ensuring wider public access to Nepal’s diplomatic and cultural heritage resources.

Strengthening Diaspora Engagement and Bilateral Relations

The Embassy stated that the combined observance of International Everest Day and Republic Day, along with the launch of the e-Museum, reflects Nepal’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness, national identity, and digital innovation abroad.
