Austin Comes Alive with the Spectacular Nepal Day Parade

The Nepal Festival (Nepal Day Parade) was celebrated in Austin, Texas, on Sunday to showcase Nepali art and culture on an international level. Various social organizations in Texas organized the event to promote Nepal globally.

Dozens of Nepalis from Dallas, Houston, Lubbock, and San Antonio traveled to Austin to participate in the event. Dressed in traditional attire, attendees gathered at the Hutto City Hall premises and took part in the parade, featuring cultural performances, traditional tools like Dhiki and Janto, and artistic exhibitions of Nepali temples and monuments.

The main highlight of the Nepal Day Parade was the traditional Nepali Panche Baja. As the patriotic song “Yo Nepali Shir Uchaali…” played, participants danced joyfully. Local American communities enthusiastically observed the artistic and cultural displays during the parade.

To encourage the Nepali community, Hutto City Mayor Mike Snyder, along with other local representatives and Euless City Deputy Mayor Tika Poudel, joined the parade alongside the Nepali participants.

After the parade, Mayor Snyder shared a message on social media, expressing that Hutto City is a diverse community with residents from around the world. He also mentioned that the city conducts programs in 22 different languages, reflecting its multicultural environment.

Following the parade, a special event was organized at the Greater Austin Nepali Society (GANS) premises. During the program, speakers, including GANS President Vidur Khatriwoda, Texas Nepali Society President Rajendra Wagle, Houston Nepali Society Advisor Drona Gautam, and Euless City Deputy Mayor Tika Poudel, emphasized that such historic gatherings strengthen the identity and pride of the Nepali diaspora while significantly promoting Nepal on the international stage.
