Nepal Elevates Tourism Promotion at Prestigious Business Event in Oman

The Embassy of Nepal in Muscat, Oman, has organized an Export, Investment, Tourism and Employment Promotion Programme titled “Business Interaction and Networking Event”, bringing together Nepali and Omani business leaders to explore new opportunities in trade, investment, tourism, and employment.

According to a press release issued by the Nepali Embassy, the event served as a platform to strengthen economic ties between Nepal and Oman while showcasing Nepal’s investment potential, export products, tourism prospects, and cultural heritage.

Nepal Prioritizes Oman as a Key Economic Partner

Addressing the gathering, Bishesh Kumar Sah highlighted that Nepal considers Oman an important partner for expanding bilateral trade and investment. He expressed satisfaction over the first-ever visit of a high-level business delegation from Nepal to Oman, describing it as a milestone in strengthening relations between the two countries.

During his presentation, Sah outlined Nepal’s investment landscape, explaining the country’s investment procedures, institutional support mechanisms, and the sectors offering promising opportunities for foreign investors. He emphasized that Nepal provides an attractive investment environment for Omani businesses, particularly in sectors with high growth potential.

Export and Handicraft Opportunities Highlighted

The event also showcased Nepal’s export capabilities and traditional industries. Govinda Ghimire, President of the Federation of Entrepreneurship Nepal (FEEN), presented Nepal’s export potential, highlighting products with comparative advantages in international markets and identifying opportunities for expanding exports to Oman and the Gulf region.

Similarly, Rabindra Shakya, President of the Federation of Handicrafts Association of Nepal, introduced Nepal’s rich tradition of handicraft production, presenting a range of handcrafted products with strong market potential in Oman and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. A dedicated exhibition featuring various Nepali products allowed participants to explore the country’s diverse export offerings firsthand.

Tourism Promotion Takes Center Stage

Tourism featured prominently during the programme, with Nepal promoting itself as a premier destination for adventure, culture, and nature-based travel. Sah described tourism as one of the priority areas for bilateral cooperation alongside trade and investment, noting that the visit of the Nepali delegation would help create stronger partnerships in the tourism sector.

The event also highlighted Nepal’s cultural identity through traditional handicrafts and authentic Nepali cuisine. Guests were served Mo: Mo, one of Nepal’s most popular traditional dishes, offering attendees a taste of the country’s culinary heritage while reinforcing Nepal’s appeal as a cultural tourism destination.

Tribute Paid to Everest Avalanche Victims

A solemn moment during the programme was dedicated to remembering mountaineers who recently lost their lives in a mountain avalanche. Sah paid heartfelt tribute to Nadhira Al Harthy, the first Omani woman to summit Mount Everest, along with other climbers who died in the tragic incident. He extended condolences to their families and acknowledged the enduring connection between Nepal’s Himalayas and the global mountaineering community. The tribute underscored Nepal’s longstanding relationship with international climbers, including those from Oman, who continue to visit the country in pursuit of Himalayan adventures.

Business Networking Strengthens Bilateral Cooperation

The programme concluded with an interactive networking session, during which participants discussed potential business collaborations and expressed interest in expanding trade and investment between the two countries. The event was moderated by Usha Adhikari, Third Secretary at the Embassy of Nepal in Muscat.

More than 70 participants attended the programme, including members of the Nepali trade delegation, chief executive officers, directors, business leaders, representatives of major Omani business houses and hypermarkets, media professionals, and members of the Nepali business community in Oman.

The Nepali delegation arrived in Muscat on August 3, and as part of its official programme, the Embassy also facilitated a business-to-business (B2B) interaction with Lulu Hypermarket on August 4, aimed at promoting Nepali products in the Omani market.

Strengthening Nepal–Oman Relations

The Business Interaction and Networking Event reflects Nepal’s broader efforts to deepen economic cooperation with Oman by promoting investment, increasing exports, expanding tourism partnerships, and creating new employment opportunities. The Embassy expressed confidence that the programme would pave the way for stronger bilateral business relations and greater collaboration between the private sectors of both countries.
