Nepal Mountaineering Association Bids Farewell to All-Women Expedition Team for Ganja La Chuli Climb

On Friday, the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) organized a farewell ceremony at its office in Nag Pokhari, Kathmandu, to bid farewell to a team of 27 women set to climb Ganja La Chuli (Kanga) in Sindhupalchok’s Panch Pokhari Rural Municipality. The peak stands at an elevation of 5,863 meters.

The ceremony included a traditional Khada presentation to the team members, a gesture of good luck and respect. The women climbers, excited and prepared for their expedition, posed for a group photograph with representatives from the NMA at the office.

The all-women team aims to conquer Ganja La Chuli, showcasing not only their mountaineering skills but also promoting women’s empowerment and participation in adventure sports. This expedition marks a significant milestone in encouraging more women to engage in high-altitude climbing and exploring Nepal’s mountainous regions.

The NMA has been actively supporting and promoting mountaineering activities, providing necessary training and resources to ensure safe and successful expeditions. The association’s support for this all-women team highlights its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the field of mountaineering.
