Nepal National Tourism Entrepreneurs Organization Urges NTB for Budget Approval and Private Sector Participation in International Tourism Fairs

The Nepal National Tourism Entrepreneurs Organization has called on the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) to expedite the approval of its budget and ensure the participation of the private sector in international tourism fairs. The organization’s delegation, led by acting president Rajendra Prasad Sapkota, met with the CEO of NTB, Deepak Raj Joshi, today to present a memorandum outlining key issues to be addressed through the Board.

During the meeting, the organization also extended congratulations and best wishes to CEO Joshi for his tenure. The entrepreneurs highlighted the need for swift budget approval to keep the Board’s operations on track, along with ensuring a dynamic approach to tourism promotion activities.

Upon receiving the memorandum, CEO Joshi assured the delegation that he would work actively to get the Board’s budget passed quickly, thereby enabling the Board to function efficiently. He emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration with the private sector to enhance tourism promotion efforts, calling for greater cooperation and coordination from all stakeholders.

According to acting president Sapkota, the memorandum pointed out specific actions that the Board should prioritize. These include the implementation of the Board’s budget, ensuring private sector participation in world-renowned tourism fairs through the Board, identifying and promoting new tourism markets, and removing taxes on air tickets and trekking activities.

Additional demands from the organization include the effective management of the Trekking Information Management System (TIMS), the immediate implementation of the “No Trekking Without Guide/Porter” policy, promoting Nepal through renowned international media such as BBC and CNN, implementing a workers’ welfare fund, and urging the Tourism Board to take a leading role in improving Nepal Airlines.

The organization hopes that by addressing these concerns, Nepal’s tourism sector will see significant growth and development in the coming years.
