The 2026 edition of FITUR, the world’s third-largest international tourism fair, officially opened its doors today in Madrid, Spain, showcasing destinations from around the globe and serving as a key platform for tourism promotion, business networking, and strategic partnerships. Nepal marked its presence with the inauguration of its official pavilion, reflecting the country’s continued efforts to strengthen its visibility in the European tourism market.
The Nepal Pavilion was formally inaugurated by Mr. Mukund Prasad Niraula, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, and Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The ribbon-cutting ceremony symbolized the official commencement of Nepal’s active participation at FITUR 2026, highlighting a collaborative approach to promoting the country’s rich tourism offerings.

Joint Efforts of NATTA and NTB
Nepal’s participation in the fair is jointly organized by the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) and NTB, demonstrating a long-standing partnership aimed at showcasing the country’s unique tourism experiences to international stakeholders. This year, a total of 30 leading Nepalese tour and travel companies are representing the country, presenting a diverse range of tourism products that include adventure tourism, cultural exploration, spiritual journeys, nature-based experiences, and sustainable tourism initiatives.
The pavilion’s inauguration underscores Nepal’s commitment to strengthening international tourism partnerships, increasing destination visibility, and expanding outreach in the competitive European market. Visitors to the Nepal Pavilion are provided comprehensive information on tourism companies, services, and destinations, along with resources such as the FITUR Nepal Book, published by NATTA, which serves as a guide to Nepal’s travel opportunities.

Nepal’s Strategic Participation
Nepal will continue its participation at FITUR from January 21 to 25, 2026, presenting a comprehensive narrative of adventure, cultural heritage, spirituality, and sustainable tourism practices. Officials from NATTA and NTB expressed confidence that Nepal’s presence at FITUR 2026 will enhance destination branding, attract more international visitors, and open new avenues for sustainable growth in tourism arrivals. The pavilion and associated events aim to position Nepal not only as a destination for adventure and culture but also as a hub for responsible and sustainable tourism in the European and global travel markets.
