Nepal Rastra Bank Publishes Foreign Exchange Rates for Sunday

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of the country, has published the official foreign exchange rates for Sunday, providing the benchmark buying and selling rates for various international currencies. These rates are applicable to commercial banks and financial institutions for the day and are subject to changes based on market dynamics.

Nepal Rastra Bank’s Exchange Rate

According to the NRB, the buying rate for one US dollar has been fixed at NPR 136.71, while the selling rate stands at NPR 137.31. The US dollar continues to hold its position as the most traded foreign currency in Nepal due to its significance in international trade and remittance inflows.

The European Euro is being traded with a buying rate of NPR 156.13 and a selling rate of NPR 156.81. Similarly, the UK Pound Sterling has been priced at NPR 185.14 for buying and NPR 185.95 for selling. The Swiss Franc stands at NPR 166.42 for buying and NPR 167.15 for selling, reflecting the currency’s strong performance in international markets.

Among the other widely used currencies, the Australian Dollar has a buying rate of NPR 88.78 and a selling rate of NPR 89.17, while the Canadian Dollar is being traded at NPR 99.90 for buying and NPR 100.34 for selling. The Singapore Dollar has been valued at NPR 106.31 for buying and NPR 106.77 for selling.

For Asian currencies, 10 Japanese Yen are being bought at NPR 9.48 and sold at NPR 9.52. The Chinese Yuan stands at NPR 19.03 for buying and NPR 19.12 for selling. Among the Gulf currencies, the Saudi Arabian Riyal is priced at NPR 36.45 for buying and NPR 36.61 for selling, while the Qatari Riyal is being traded at NPR 37.51 for buying and NPR 37.67 for selling.

Additional rates released by the central bank include the Thai Baht, set at NPR 4.19 for buying and NPR 4.21 for selling. The UAE Dirham is trading at NPR 37.22 for buying and NPR 37.38 for selling. The Malaysian Ringgit has a buying rate of NPR 32.32 and a selling rate of NPR 32.46. For the South Korean Won, 100 units are being bought at NPR 10.07 and sold at NPR 10.11. The Swedish Kroner has been fixed at NPR 14.25 for buying and NPR 14.31 for selling, while the Danish Kroner stands at NPR 20.93 for buying and NPR 21.02 for selling.

Nepal Rastra Bank has also determined the rate for the Hong Kong Dollar at NPR 17.42 for buying and NPR 17.50 for selling. Among the high-value currencies, the Kuwaiti Dinar has been set at NPR 446.07 for buying and NPR 448.03 for selling. The Bahraini Dinar is priced at NPR 362.64 for buying and NPR 364.23 for selling. Similarly, the Omani Riyal has been listed at NPR 355.09 for buying and NPR 356.64 for selling.

Regarding the Indian currency, which holds a special position in Nepal’s economy due to open border trade and daily transactions, the exchange rate for NPR 100 has been set at NPR 160.00 for buying and NPR 160.15 for selling.

The central bank has clarified that these rates can be revised at any time based on necessity and changing market conditions. While the published rates serve as a reference, individual commercial banks may quote slightly different exchange rates depending on their operational strategies. NRB has also informed that the most recent and accurate rates are regularly updated and made available on its official website.

This daily announcement by NRB plays a crucial role in guiding the country’s foreign exchange transactions, import-export settlements, and remittance inflows. It helps businesses and individuals manage currency conversions with transparency and provides stability to Nepal’s financial sector amidst global currency fluctuations.
