Nepal Rastra Bank Publishes Official Foreign Exchange Rates for Today

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central regulatory authority for monetary policy and banking in Nepal, has released the official foreign exchange rates for July 7, 2025 (Ashad 23, 2082 BS). These rates serve as a daily reference for individuals, institutions, and businesses involved in foreign currency transactions across Nepal. The central bank has also stated that it reserves the right to revise the rates at any time based on prevailing market conditions. Additionally, commercial banks in the country may quote slightly different rates for currency exchange services.

Middle Eastern Currencies: Saudi Riyal, Qatari Riyal, Dirham, and Dinar Rates

Nepal has significant economic ties with Gulf nations, particularly due to the large number of Nepali migrant workers residing there. Reflecting this connection, the Saudi Arabian Riyal is listed at a buying rate of NPR 36.36 and a selling rate of NPR 36.52. The Qatari Riyal is quoted at NPR 37.30 (buying) and NPR 37.47 (selling).

Indian Rupee and Exchange Rate Flexibility

For the Indian currency, which holds special significance due to open borders and extensive trade relations between Nepal and India, the exchange rate has been set at NPR 160 for 100 Indian Rupees (buying) and NPR 160.15 (selling).

NRB has emphasized that these exchange rates may be updated or revised at any time as needed. The official rates serve as a benchmark for commercial banks and currency exchange service providers across Nepal. However, the actual exchange rates offered by commercial banks might differ slightly based on their own currency reserves and operational costs. All updated exchange rates are publicly available on the Nepal Rastra Bank’s official website, which stakeholders are encouraged to consult regularly for the most accurate and current data.
