Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central monetary authority of Nepal, has announced the official foreign currency exchange rates for today. The exchange rates serve as a reference for financial institutions and individuals engaged in international trade, travel, and remittance services. According to the latest update, the U.S. Dollar continues to remain one of the most traded foreign currencies in the Nepali market.
U.S. Dollar Exchange Rate Remains Steady
As per the NRB, the exchange rate for one U.S. Dollar (USD) has been fixed at NPR 138.24 for buying and NPR 138.84 for selling. This marginal fluctuation indicates a stable demand for the dollar, which is widely used in import-export transactions and by travelers heading to or returning from the United States and other dollar-based economies.
Euro and Pound Sterling Maintain Strong Position
The European Euro (EUR) stands as one of the stronger currencies in the market. The buying rate is set at NPR 159.20, and the selling rate is NPR 159.89. Similarly, the British Pound Sterling (GBP), which has consistently remained among the highest-valued currencies, is being exchanged at NPR 186.51 for buying and NPR 187.32 for selling. These rates are reflective of ongoing global trade and tourism interactions with European nations.

Swiss Franc, Canadian and Australian Dollars Also Updated
The Swiss Franc (CHF), known for its strength and stability in the global financial system, has been pegged at NPR 169.07 for buying and NPR 169.80 for selling. Asian Currencies See Moderate Exchange Values
In the context of Asia, currencies such as the Singapore Dollar (SGD), Japanese Yen (JPY), and Chinese Yuan (CNY) continue to play a critical role in Nepal’s foreign transactions. The Singapore Dollar is priced at NPR 107.58 (buying) and NPR 108.05 (selling). The Japanese Yen (per 10 units) is fixed at NPR 9.50 for buying and NPR 9.54 for selling, while the Chinese Yuan is exchanged at NPR 19.25 (buying) and NPR 19.34 (selling). These rates are especially significant for Nepal’s trade ties with neighboring China and long-standing economic engagement with Japan and Singapore.
Gulf Currencies Important for Remittance-Driven Economy
As Nepal receives a significant volume of remittance from Gulf countries, the exchange rates of Gulf currencies directly affect household incomes. The Saudi Arabian Riyal (SAR) is trading at NPR 36.84 (buying) and NPR 37.00 (selling). The Qatari Riyal (QAR) is set at NPR 37.92 (buying) and NPR 38.09 (selling). Indian Rupee Exchange Rate Unchanged
Nepal’s most influential neighboring currency, the Indian Rupee (INR), remains fixed at NPR 160.00 for buying and NPR 160.15 for selling per 100 units. Given the open border and extensive trade and travel relations between Nepal and India, the INR exchange rate is one of the most stable and frequently referenced.
Central Bank Reminds of Rate Flexibility
The Nepal Rastra Bank has emphasized that the current exchange rates are subject to change depending on fluctuations in international markets. Furthermore, it is important to note that commercial banks may apply slightly different rates, as permitted by NRB. Updated and accurate rates can be accessed anytime via the NRB’s official website.
Today’s exchange rates reflect Nepal’s diverse international economic relations. Whether it’s for foreign travel, remittance, education abroad, or business, these rates are crucial for planning transactions effectively.
