Nepal Rastra Bank Sets Foreign Exchange Rates for the Day

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the central bank of Nepal, has released the official foreign exchange rates applicable for today, establishing the buying and selling values for a wide range of international currencies. The daily update plays a vital role in the country’s economic activities, guiding importers, exporters, remittance service providers, and travelers in their financial dealings.

Nepal Rastra Bank’s Exchange Rate

According to the latest figures provided by NRB, the exchange rate for one unit of the United States Dollar (USD) has been fixed at NPR 136.63 for buying and NPR 137.23 for selling. The dollar remains one of the most traded and influential currencies in Nepal’s economy, especially in remittance and international trade transactions.

Similarly, the Euro (EUR), another globally significant currency, is being traded at NPR 155.05 for buying and NPR 155.73 for selling. The demand for the Euro has been steadily growing in Nepal due to increasing travel, trade ties with European countries, and remittances from Europe-based Nepali workers.

The British Pound Sterling (GBP), known for its relatively higher value, is being exchanged at NPR 183.91 for buying and NPR 184.72 for selling. Meanwhile, the Swiss Franc (CHF), which is often considered a stable and safe currency globally, has been set at NPR 166.11 for buying and NPR 166.83 for selling.

Among the other major currencies, the Australian Dollar (AUD) has been valued at NPR 87.87 for buying and NPR 88.26 for selling. The Canadian Dollar (CAD) is being exchanged at NPR 99.44 for buying and NPR 99.87 for selling. Similarly, the Singapore Dollar (SGD), increasingly relevant due to Nepal’s close labor relations with Singapore, stands at NPR 105.82 for buying and NPR 106.29 for selling.

In terms of Asian currencies, the Japanese Yen (JPY), calculated per 10 units, has a buying rate of NPR 9.48 and a selling rate of NPR 9.53. The Chinese Yuan (CNY), which holds importance due to Nepal’s growing trade and investment connections with China, has been fixed at NPR 18.98 for buying and NPR 19.06 for selling.

As for Middle Eastern currencies, which are of high relevance due to the vast Nepali workforce employed in the Gulf region, the Saudi Arabian Riyal (SAR) is being exchanged at NPR 36.42 for buying and NPR 36.58 for selling. Similarly, the Qatari Riyal (QAR) has been fixed at NPR 37.48 for buying and NPR 37.65 for selling. The UAE Dirham (AED), commonly used in remittances from the United Arab Emirates, is being traded at NPR 37.20 for buying and NPR 37.37 for selling.

Further breakdown of the rates shows the Thai Baht (THB) at NPR 4.16 for buying and NPR 4.18 for selling. The Malaysian Ringgit (MYR), important for Nepalese working in Malaysia, is valued at NPR 32.10 for buying and NPR 32.24 for selling. The South Korean Won (KRW), per 100 units, stands at NPR 9.88 for buying and NPR 9.92 for selling.

The Omani Riyal (OMR), another key currency for the Nepali migrant labor force, is quoted at NPR 354.91 for buying and NPR 356.46 for selling.

Of particular interest is the Indian Rupee (INR), with which Nepal maintains a close financial and trade relationship. The exchange rate for INR 100 has been fixed at NPR 160 for buying and NPR 160.15 for selling. Due to the open border and strong socio-economic ties with India, the Indian currency continues to be used widely in transactions across southern Nepal.

Nepal Rastra Bank has stated that these exchange rates are subject to change as per market conditions and can be revised as necessary throughout the day. While NRB provides the reference rate, it has also noted that the rates offered by commercial banks may vary slightly, depending on their internal policies and market demand.

The latest and most accurate exchange rates are always available on the official website of Nepal Rastra Bank. The central bank encourages individuals and institutions to consult the NRB website for real-time updates and details about currency trends.
