Wangchu Peak National Sport Climbing Championship 2025: Nepal Gears Up for a Thrilling Event

The Nepal Climbing Sports Association has completed all preparations for the Wangchu Peak Promotion & Musa Masala National Sport Climbing Championship 2025, set to take place on March 21 and 22 at the Kathmandu Sports Climbing Center in Paknajol, Kathmandu.

According to the organizers, a total of 19 climbers 13 men and 6 women will compete in the event, which aims to promote sport climbing, adventure sports, and sports tourism in Nepal. The championship will begin with an opening ceremony at 8 AM on March 21, followed by a briefing on the competition format. The qualification rounds will then take place, selecting the top 8 male and top 6 female climbers for the final round on March 22.

Winners in both categories will receive NPR 50,000 for first place, NPR 30,000 for second place, and NPR 20,000 for third place, along with medals and certificates. The competition will be conducted under International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) rules, with technical support from Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) chief route setter Bibash Roy. The organizers believe that Nepal has great potential for sport climbing, and with proper promotion, local climbers could achieve success on the international stage.
