Red Panda And Thar Festival 2082: A Bold New Era for Tourism

Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality is set to host the Red Panda and Thar Festival on April 13-14, 2025, at Hurlung, Ward No. 2. The festival aims to promote Mundhum Trail Visit Year 2025 and raise awareness about endangered wildlife conservation.

The two-day event will feature cultural exhibitions, local cuisines, traditional attire, and photography displays of red pandas and thars. It will also mark the inauguration of the “Mundhum Trail Red Panda-Thar Route”, led by goodwill ambassador and actor Dayahang Rai.

With breathtaking views of Mount Everest and surrounding landscapes, the municipality hopes to boost tourism and economic growth. The festival is part of broader efforts across Khotang and Bhojpur to attract 100,000 visitors to Mundhum Trail, one of Nepal’s top 100 tourist destinations.

The upcoming Red Panda and Thar Festival is set to play a pivotal role in the success of the “Mundum Trail Visit Year 2025,” an ambitious campaign designed to promote tourism in the Khotang and Bhojpur regions. This festival is part of a larger initiative that aims to showcase the unique cultural, natural, and adventurous offerings of these areas to both domestic and international tourists.

By focusing on the promotion of the Mundum Trail, which is rich in ethnic culture and scenic beauty, the festival will attract visitors to explore the hidden gems of Khotang and Bhojpur, known for their diverse landscapes and ethnic heritage. This event will highlight the region’s commitment to long-term tourism development, creating new opportunities for local communities and fostering sustainable growth. In addition to the Red Panda and Thar Festival, several other exciting events are being planned to complement the campaign and further boost tourism in the area.

These include the Honey Hunting and Gothstay Festival in Kepilasgadhi, where visitors can experience traditional honey-hunting practices and stay in local mountain villages, and the Sakela Festival in Sakela Rural Municipality, which will celebrate the cultural diversity of the region. To cater to adventure tourists, an Ultra Marathon and Mountain Cycling event in Bhojpur will offer thrilling experiences amidst the region’s rugged terrain. Together, these festivals and events are designed to create a vibrant tourism ecosystem, attract a wide range of visitors, and ensure that tourism in Khotang and Bhojpur thrives for years to come.
