Nepal Tourism Board successfully coordinated Nepal’s participation at the three-day Guangzhou International Travel Fair 2026 (GITF) held from 21–23 May 2026 under the theme “Nepal: A Lifetime Experience.” The event served as a major platform for promoting Nepal’s tourism potential in the Chinese market and strengthening tourism ties between Nepal and China.
At the fair, Nepal Tourism Board highlighted Nepal’s diverse tourism offerings including wellness, cultural, pilgrimage, adventure, outdoor, and luxury tourism experiences. Visitors and travel trade professionals received detailed information about Nepal’s unique travel destinations, spiritual heritage, Himalayan adventures, trekking opportunities, and luxury hospitality experiences.

Nepal Receives International Recognition in GITF 2026
During GITF 2026, Nepal Tourism Board was honored with the prestigious “Most Charming Tourism Destination” recognition. The award acknowledged Nepal’s increasing popularity among international travelers and celebrated the country’s unique blend of natural beauty, spirituality, culture, and adventure tourism.
Guangzhou, strategically located near Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, remains one of China’s major commercial and tourism hubs with significant potential for Nepal’s wellness, pilgrimage, cultural, outdoor, and luxury tourism segments. NTB’s participation aimed to further attract Chinese travelers and expand Nepal’s tourism market presence in the region.
Cultural Performances and Tourism Promotion in GITF
On the opening day of the fair, 21 May, Nepal organized a traditional cultural dance performance along with a destination presentation that showcased Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, and tourism attractions during GITF. The performances attracted considerable attention from Chinese visitors and international travel trade representatives attending the event.

On 22 May 2026, Mr. Bimal Kadel, Senior Manager of Nepal Tourism Board, delivered a country presentation focusing on Nepal’s tourism products and experiences. He also participated in a panel discussion related to Nepal’s tourism marketing strategies and promotional approaches in international markets.

Mr. Bimal Kadel and Mr. Pradip Basnet, Senior Officer of Nepal Tourism Board, officially represented NTB during the fair and engaged with tourism stakeholders, travel operators, and potential visitors throughout the event.

Interactive Activities at Nepal Stall
The Nepal pavilion featured several visitor engagement activities, including a spin-and-win lucky draw program and the display of traditional Nepali singing bowls as part of Nepal’s wellness tourism promotion. These activities helped attract visitors and provided an immersive experience of Nepal’s spiritual and wellness tourism offerings.
Eight Nepali travel and tourism companies participated in the event, including Adventure Outdoor Treks and Expedition Pvt. Ltd., Buddha Maya Gardens Pvt. Ltd., Dragon Holidays Pvt. Ltd., Hotel Manang Pvt. Ltd., Outdoor Expeditions Pvt. Ltd., Pearl Holidays Pvt. Ltd., Social Treks and Expedition, and The Trek Nepal Pvt. Ltd.
The participating companies promoted various tour, travel, trekking, and hospitality packages while conducting business networking with Chinese travel agencies and tourism professionals.

Strengthening Nepal-China Tourism Connectivity
Prior to GITF 2026, Nepal Tourism Board had also participated in the “Nepal: A Lifetime Experience” tourism promotion and B2B networking program held in Shenzhen on 20 May 2026 in coordination with the Consulate General of Nepal in Guangzhou.
Currently, direct air connectivity between Kathmandu and Guangzhou is operated by Nepal Airlines and China Southern Airlines, further strengthening tourism connectivity and contributing to the growing number of Chinese visitors traveling to Nepal.
