Nepal Telecom has extended its 4G mobile services to the Machhapuchhare Base Camp and Annapurna Base Camp, two of the most popular tourist destinations in Nepal, in a significant move aimed at enhancing the tourism experience.
The company has launched 4G services in these areas by installing a new BTS (Base Transceiver Station) at Machhapuchhare Base Camp, located on the Annapurna trekking route in Kaski. Additionally, the existing 2G mobile service in Deurali, another location on the trekking path, has been upgraded to 4G.
These improvements in mobile connectivity are set to significantly enhance the experience for trekkers and visitors, who rely on stable internet services for navigation, communication, and sharing their journey in real time. Better connectivity also means that local businesses, such as lodges, restaurants, and guiding services, can offer improved services to tourists, boosting the overall appeal of these regions.
Nepal Telecom’s initiative aims to enhance connectivity for both locals and visitors in these high-altitude regions, situated approximately 4,000 meters above sea level. This expansion is expected to provide significant benefits to residents, tourists, and businesses operating in the area.
“We believe that the extension of 4G services to these attractive tourist spots will greatly benefit everyone in the region, including residents, tourists, and other business operators,” stated a representative from Nepal Telecom.
This development is part of Nepal Telecom’s broader efforts to improve telecommunications infrastructure in remote and touristic regions, thereby supporting tourism and local economies. By ensuring that visitors have access to reliable mobile services, Nepal Telecom is contributing to the attractiveness and convenience of traveling in these beautiful, yet remote, areas of Nepal.
