Nepali Muslims Celebrate the Birth Anniversary of Prophet Muhammad

Nepali Muslims are observing the birth anniversary of the founder of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, today. This significant day, Muhammad Jayanti, falls on the 12th day of Rabi’ al-awwal, the third month of the Islamic calendar. According to Islamic religious leader Maulana Abdul Jabbar Manjari, the occasion is marked with various religious programs across the country.

During the celebrations, Naat Sharifs, devotional songs praising the Prophet, are recited, and his teachings and speeches are remembered. In Banke district, where there is a significant Muslim population, a special rally is scheduled for this morning, as shared by local Muslim leader Halim Shah.

In recognition of the event, several local governments, including Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, Narainapur, and Janki Rural Municipalities, have declared a public holiday. The federal government has also announced a nationwide public holiday for Nepali Muslims. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notice on Sunday, confirming the holiday, based on a recommendation from the Muslim Commission.

Muhammad Jayanti is a day of reverence and unity, bringing communities together to honor the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
