A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday as a Nepali tourist lost his life due to high-altitude complications while trekking across Thorong La Pass in Manang’s Manang Ghyang Rural Municipality-8.
The deceased, identified as Hari Adhikari from Ganga Jamuna Rural Municipality-5, Dhadhing, was on a trek along the Annapurna Circuit, where Thorong La Pass reaches an elevation of 5,416 meters.
Subash Kumar Lamichhane, Chief District Officer of Manang, confirmed that Mr. Adhikari encountered fatal challenges due to the extreme altitude during his expedition.
The body of the deceased has been evacuated via helicopter to Kathmandu for further procedures.
