NEPSE Continues Downward Trend; Hotels and Tourism Index Also Declines

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index extended its losing streak today, declining by 11.97 points (0.45%) to close at 2,646.95, following a sharp drop of 35.73 points in the previous trading session.

The benchmark index opened at 2,660.22, climbed to an intraday high of 2,664.59, and fell to a low of 2,641.07 before closing near the day’s lower range. The total daily turnover reached Rs. 5.16 Arba, with 13,782,468 shares traded across 313 companies through 59,130 transactions. The total market capitalization stood at Rs. 44.08 Kharba, while the float market capitalization was recorded at Rs. 14.84 Kharba.

Among the various sectoral indices, the Hotels and Tourism Index also posted a loss, dropping by 32.11 points (0.47%) to settle at 6,771.46, following a significant fall of 147.44 points in the previous session. The index opened at 6,819.02, reached a high of 6,891.56, and dipped to a low of 6,756.70 during the day’s trading.

The continued decline across major indices signals cautious investor sentiment, particularly in the tourism sector, despite increasing activity levels on the trading floor.
