NEPSE Declines Slightly by 3.44 Points; Hotel and Tourism Index Continues Upward Trend

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index witnessed a minor decline of 3.44 points (0.13%), settling at 2,620.39 at the close of today’s trading session. This follows an earlier loss of 8.14 points recorded in the previous session, indicating continued cautious sentiment in the market.

The benchmark index opened at 2,618.33, touched an intraday high of 2,630.36, and dipped to a low of 2,604.79. A total of 18,437,942 shares were traded across 319 listed companies, amounting to a turnover of approximately Rs. 7.63 Arba through 65,884 transactions.

In contrast to the overall market trend, the Hotels and Tourism Index showed resilience and continued its upward movement. The sub-index gained 1.79 points (0.02%), closing at 6,352.08. This marks a second consecutive gain, following a 3.17-point rise in the previous session. It opened at 6,350.28, recorded a high of 6,361.91, and a low of 6,301.57 during the trading day.

The persistent positive momentum in the hotel and tourism sector reflects growing investor confidence, possibly fueled by the seasonal rise in tourism activity across the country.
