NEPSE Experiences Notable Decline, Hotel and Tourism Sector Hit Hard

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) faced a significant downturn today, dropping by 33.08 points or 1.26%, and closing at 2,576.50. This follows a double-digit drop of 21.12 points in the previous trading session. The market opened at 2,613.7, showing noticeable volatility throughout the day, with the intraday high reaching 2,613.95 and a low of 2,545.34.

The Hotel and Tourism Index, which has been under pressure recently, also saw a sharp decline today. The index fell by 88.49 points, or 1.38%, closing at 6,299.41. This follows a double-digit drop of 39.24 points in the previous session. The Hotel and Tourism Index opened the day at 6,387.91, with fluctuating prices, peaking at 6,406.04 and dipping to a low of 6,248.07 during the day.

The decline in both the broader NEPSE index and the Hotel and Tourism Index highlights the current volatility in the market, reflecting the cautious sentiment among investors. The sectors, especially tourism and hospitality, continue to face challenges amid the fluctuating market conditions.
