The highly anticipated Kathmandu Heritage Summit 2025 is scheduled to take place on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Nepal Tourism Board, bringing together cultural enthusiasts, scholars, and heritage advocates from across the country. The event will commence at 9:15 AM with registration and networking over light refreshments, followed by an opening session featuring a welcome note, the national anthem, and speeches from distinguished guests, including the President and the Director General of the Department of Archaeology, Mrs. Saubhagya Pradhananga. The summit will be inaugurated with a traditional Panas Lighting Ceremony, culminating in a keynote address and a vote of thanks, enriched by a Chariya Dance performance.
The program is divided into two key sessions. The first session, chaired by Prof. Dr. Manik Ratna Shakya, will include paper presentations on diverse topics such as the cultural significance of Milarepa Caves by PhD scholar Mr. Mohan Tamang, the architectural influence of Vedic funerals by architects Prajeeta and Prajesh Gyawali, and the challenges of repatriated heritage by journalist Prabita Shrestha. Additional presentations will highlight the fight to preserve Nepalese culture by Er. Badan Nyachhyon and delve into the essence of Charyageet by social enthusiast Nanihera Shakya.

The second session will feature a panel discussion moderated by Suryadeep Prasad Shrestha, focusing on “The Heritage of Nepal Concerning Kathmandu Valley from a Cultural Epitome’s Perspective.” This engaging dialogue, scheduled from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, aims to shed light on the intricate relationship between Kathmandu Valley’s heritage and its cultural significance.
