After a 29.82-point gain in the previous session, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index witnessed a decline of 16.95 points (0.62%), closing at 2,676.17 on Monday.
The trading session saw the index open at 2,691.6, reaching an intraday high of 2,696.50 before hitting a low of 2,654.57. A total of 10,670,649 shares were exchanged across 320 companies through 56,548 transactions, amounting to a turnover of Rs. 5.79 Arba.
Following an impressive 91.08-point surge in the previous session, the Hotel and Tourism Index faced a steep decline of 113.53 points (1.74%), closing at 6,397.25.
The sectoral index opened at 6,510.79, touched an intraday high of 6,512.46, and fell to a low of 6,378.83, reflecting profit-booking pressure and market correction after the recent surge.
Investors remain cautious amid market fluctuations, with analysts closely monitoring sectoral performance in the upcoming sessions.
