NEPSE Index Drops by 57 Points, Hotel and Tourism Sector Faces Significant Losses

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index fell sharply by 57.03 points, or 2.16%, closing at 2,580.76 during the latest trading session, continuing the decline from the previous session’s loss of 50.73 points. The trading day opened with the index at 2,635.97 points, reaching a peak of 2,637.52 points before dropping to a low of 2,570.62 points and eventually settling at 2,580.76 points.

The Hotel and Tourism Index experienced a notable decline, shedding 163.29 points, or 2.48%, to close at 6,412.12. This loss follows a significant 251.86-point drop in the previous session. Trading for this sector started at 6,575.43 points, peaked briefly at 6,412.12 points, and hit a low of 6,354.33 points before settling at the final figure of 6,412.12.

This downward trend in the hotel and tourism sector is seen as a reflection of the broader market sentiment, which continues to face challenges in investor confidence.
