NEPSE Index Falls by 8.24 Points, Hotels and Tourism Sector Also Declines

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index experienced a decline of 8.24 points today, a decrease of 0.40%, closing at 2,051.92 points. This drop follows a previous loss of 11.60 points, reflecting continued market uncertainty and investor caution.

Similarly, the Hotels and Tourism Index also witnessed a decline, dropping by 27.03 points or 0.51%, to close at 5,259.98 points. This decline follows a previous loss of 15.44 points, indicating sustained pressure on tourism-related stocks.

The trading day began with the Hotels and Tourism Index at 5,287.02 points, reaching an intraday high of 5,290.64 points. However, the index fell to a low of 5,244.17 points before settling at its closing value.

Market analysts attribute the ongoing declines to several factors, including geopolitical uncertainties, fluctuating foreign exchange rates, and concerns over potential regulatory changes. Additionally, seasonal effects and lower-than-expected earnings reports from key sectors have contributed to the cautious sentiment among investors. As a result, both the broader NEPSE Index and sector-specific indices like Hotels and Tourism are reflecting these broader market anxieties.
