NEPSE Records Decline by 7.94 Points; Hotel and Tourism Index Also Falls

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a decline in today’s trading session, shedding 7.94 points or 0.29%, to close at 2,669.51. This comes after a notable gain of 49.09 points during the previous session, indicating a pullback in investor sentiment.

The trading day began with the benchmark index opening at 2,712.26. It reached an intraday high of 2,771.47 but slipped to a low of 2,667.85 before settling lower by the end of the day.

The total turnover amounted to Rs. 10.69 Arba, with 23,026,245 shares exchanged in 88,121 transactions across 316 listed companies. NEPSE’s total market capitalization stood at Rs. 44.42 Kharba, while the float market capitalization was recorded at Rs. 14.92 Kharba.

In sectoral performance, the Hotel and Tourism Index, which had surged by 236.00 points in the previous session, also posted a loss today. The index fell by 8.87 points or 0.12% to close at 7,108.60. The index had opened at 7,181.99, peaked at 7,335.30, and hit a low of 7,024.04 during intraday trading.

The session reflected mixed investor behavior across various sectors, with noticeable volatility observed in hotel and tourism-related stocks. Market participants are now eyeing macroeconomic developments and corporate earnings reports to guide upcoming investment decisions.
