The newly reconstructed Dharahara tower in Sundhara, Kathmandu, is set to open temporarily from Ashwin 3, coinciding with Constitution Day celebrations. A minister informed that the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to make the iconic landmark operational for visitors on this occasion.
The responsibility for managing Dharahara has been assigned to the Federal Government’s Ministry of Urban Development. Before the 2015 earthquake, the federal government had entrusted the operation and management of Dharahara to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, which had awarded the contract to a private company.
The minister also mentioned that the Cabinet has canceled all previous decisions related to Dharahara’s operation, paving the way for the new management plan.
