In a significant move to strengthen Nepal’s tourism promotion efforts, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Nepal Television (NTV) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a strategic collaboration to produce tourism-focused content for national and international audiences.
NTB Signs MoU With NTV
The MoU was officially signed on May 15, 2025, by NTB Chief Executive Officer Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi and NTV Chief Executive Officer Dr. Mahendra Bista during a ceremony held in Kathmandu. The agreement paves the way for a new chapter of cooperation between Nepal’s apex tourism promotional body and the country’s national broadcaster.
As per the agreement, NTB and NTV will jointly develop and broadcast a series of high-quality documentaries, talk shows, and travel features aimed at promoting Nepal’s rich cultural heritage, diverse natural landscapes, and adventure experiences. The partnership is expected to significantly contribute to enhancing Nepal’s visibility as a premier travel destination in the global market.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, NTB CEO Mr. Joshi highlighted the importance of innovative media collaborations in modern tourism promotion. “This partnership with Nepal Television allows us to use the power of storytelling and visual content to engage both domestic and international audiences. Through professionally produced programs, we aim to showcase Nepal’s tourism offerings in a more impactful and far-reaching way,” he said. NTV CEO Dr. Bista also expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. “Nepal Television has always played a vital role in shaping public perception through responsible broadcasting.

With this agreement, we are committing our platform and technical capabilities to help promote the tourism industry, which is a crucial sector for the country’s economy,” he stated. The MoU outlines plans to feature various tourism destinations across Nepal from iconic heritage sites like Lumbini and Pashupatinath to hidden gems in the hills and mountains. The content will be developed with a focus on authenticity, sustainability, and cultural sensitivity, ensuring that the tourism message aligns with Nepal’s unique identity and values.

Additionally, the collaboration will spotlight tourism professionals, local communities, and their stories, encouraging inclusive growth and showcasing how tourism benefits people across the country. The initiative also aims to inspire domestic travelers to explore their own nation while attracting international tourists by offering a closer look into Nepal’s vast travel potential.
This strategic alliance is expected to contribute not only to tourism revival in the post-pandemic era but also to long-term brand building for Nepal as a safe, welcoming, and enriching travel destination.
The NTB-NTV collaboration is set to roll out content in the coming months, and both organizations have urged the public and tourism stakeholders to stay engaged and look forward to dynamic, inspiring, and informative programming. With this initiative, Nepal is poised to step confidently onto the global stage with compelling narratives that celebrate its beauty, culture, and adventure inviting the world to discover the wonders of the Himalayas.
