The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is officially participating in the Nepal Pavilion at the Outbound Travel Mart (OTM) Mumbai 2026, one of Asia’s premier travel trade shows. This year, Nepal’s presence is stronger than ever, with 34 prominent tourism companies representing the country at the event, held at the Jio World Convention Centre from February 5-7, 2026.
OTM Mumbai: A Gateway to India’s Outbound Market
OTM Mumbai serves as the gateway to India’s largest outbound tourism market, attracting thousands of travel professionals, tour operators, hoteliers, and destination management companies from across the globe. The event facilitates business partnerships worth millions annually, shaping travel trends across Asia.

Nepal has participated consistently at OTM for over 25 years, evolving from being recognized solely for trekking and spiritual tourism to a diversified destination offering luxury tourism, adventure sports, wellness retreats, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions).
This year’s 34 participating companies represent the full spectrum of Nepal’s tourism offerings, from high-end mountain resorts and heritage hotels to adventure outfitters and sophisticated DMCs capable of hosting large-scale corporate events. The Nepal Pavilion is renowned for its cultural authenticity, winning multiple awards for the best destination showcase and engaging cultural presentations.
Tourism Resilience and Post-Gen-Z Recovery
Following the recent Gen-Z Movement, Nepal’s tourism sector has demonstrated strong resilience. Visitor arrivals are rebounding, and tourism operations are running at full capacity. Indian tourists continue to dominate arrivals, drawn to cultural events like the Pokhara Street Festival and preparations for Maha Shivaratri at Pashupatinath Temple.
According to NTB CEO Mr. Deepak Raj Joshi, “The democratic expression of our youth has concluded peacefully, and Nepal stands ready to welcome the world with the same warmth and hospitality that has defined us for centuries.” January 2026 saw a 30% growth in Indian tourist arrivals compared to January 2025.

Indo-Nepal Connectivity and Payment Facilities
Nepal shares a 1,850 km open border with India, featuring key road and air gateways such as Sunauli (Belahiya), Kakarbhitta, Jogbani, Raxaul, Gaddachauki, and Rupaidiha, facilitating smooth tourist movement. Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) in Kathmandu serves as the primary hub, offering daily direct flights to major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, and Varanasi.
The Nepali Rupee (NPR) is pegged to the Indian Rupee (INR) at a fixed rate of 1.60, ensuring monetary stability. Additionally, Indian tourists can now make seamless retail payments in Nepal using UPI-enabled apps such as PhonePe, Google Pay, and BHIM, thanks to a 2024 partnership between NPCI and Fonepay.
Strategic Focus Areas for Indian Tourists
Nepal’s participation at OTM Mumbai 2026 emphasizes religious tourism, adventure activities, luxury experiences, wellness retreats, MICE events, and destination weddings. Sacred sites like Pashupatinath, Janaki Temple, Muktinath, and Lumbini continue to attract Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. Weekend getaways, trekking, paragliding, white-water rafting, and heli-tours to Everest Base Camp highlight Nepal’s diverse offerings.
