A total of 30,732 foreign tourists visited the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) in the month of Ashwin, marking a significant increase in arrivals to the Annapurna Circuit. Of these, nearly 12,000 tourists came from South Asian countries, while over 18,700 visitors were from other nations, according to data recorded between mid-September and mid-October.
Dr. Rabin Kadariya, Chief of ACAP, noted that the influx of visitors began to rise notably in the second week of September. He further stated that the number of tourists is expected to continue increasing over the next two months, as this period marks the peak season for trekking in the Annapurna region.
In addition to international visitors, domestic tourism has also seen a rise during this period. Dr. Kadariya attributed the growing interest to the diverse trekking routes and scenic beauty the area offers.
Key attractions within the Annapurna Circuit include Annapurna Base Camp, Mardi Peak, Ghandruk, Sikles, Khumai Danda, Tilicho Lake, Thorang La Pass, Upper Mustang, Muktinath, and Ghodepani in Myagdi. These destinations continue to draw adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers from around the world, further boosting the region’s popularity as a premier trekking destination.
