A Heritage Cycle Ride commenced today in Palpa with a mission to develop and promote the district’s rich touristic heritage. Organized by the Palpa Cycling Association, the event has attracted cycling enthusiasts from across Nepal, including participants from Palpa, Rupandehi, Nawalparasi, Chitwan, Kathmandu, Siraha, and Banke.
Starting early at 6:00 a.m., the cyclists embarked on a scenic journey from Bhairabsthan, passing through Lisnubhir, Argali, Ridi, and Ranimahal, with the destination being Tansen, the district’s cultural hub. This route highlights Palpa’s natural and historical sites, adding both adventure and sightseeing appeal to the ride.
The event not only promotes Palpa’s touristic potential but also emphasizes the importance of health and wellness. Chairman of the Palpa Cycling Association, Rupesh Maharjan, shared that the participants’ age range is notably diverse, from 14 to 65 years. The event also includes riders with disabilities, a female participant, and a foreigner, showcasing the inclusivity and broad appeal of the event.
Maharjan expressed optimism that the Heritage Cycle Ride will invigorate local tourism, spotlight Palpa as a hub for adventure sports, and inspire more health-focused activities in the region. With its rich heritage and stunning landscapes, Palpa is poised to become a sought-after destination for both domestic and international tourists.
