Parliamentary Committee Forms Sub-Committees to Investigate Bhairahawa and Pokhara Airports

The Public Accounts Committee of the Federal Parliament has established separate sub-committees to conduct comprehensive studies of the newly constructed international airports in Bhairahawa and Pokhara.

Committee Chairperson Rishikesh Pokharel announced the formation of the sub-committees, aimed at investigating the Gautam Buddha International Airport in Bhairahawa and the Pokhara International Airport.

A 12-member sub-committee, coordinated by MP Rajendra Prasad Lingden, President of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, will focus on the Pokhara International Airport. An eight-member sub-committee, led by MP Yogesh Bhattarai, UML Secretary, will study the Gautam Buddha International Airport.

Yekram Giri, the committee’s secretary, stated that these sub-committees will conduct on-site monitoring to understand why these nationally significant projects, built with substantial investments, are not yielding the expected returns.

The findings from these investigations are anticipated to provide insights and recommendations to enhance the operational efficiency and financial performance of both airports.
