The body of a missing pilgrim has been recovered after being swept away by a river during a ritual bath near Dupcheshwar Mahadev Temple in Dupcheshwar Rural Municipality-6. The incident occurred when 72-year-old Himkumari Adhikari from Suryagadhi Rural Municipality-3 was swept away by the Surya Mati (Tadi) River on Monday while bathing before visiting the temple.
According to Chief of the District Police Office, Shantiraj Koirala, Adhikari’s body was found today near Goda Bridge in the Tadi River with the help of residents and security personnel. Adhikari had traveled from Kathmandu with her family to visit the temple but was swept away during the traditional bath, a ritual many pilgrims perform before entering the temple.
The authorities continue to urge caution around rivers, especially during monsoon season when water levels can be unpredictable.
