On Monday morning, a helicopter crashed onto the roof of a hotel in far northern Queensland, Australia, resulting in the death of the pilot. The accident also left two others injured. Following the incident, Australian authorities declared a state of emergency in the area surrounding the hotel and evacuated approximately 400 people.
Authorities in Cairns have yet to identify the pilot involved in the crash. This incident follows a similar tragedy in Queensland at the end of 2023, where a defense force helicopter crash resulted in the deaths of four crew members.
