Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has emphasized the importance of expanding Buddha’s philosophy and teachings through education. Speaking at the 16th Senate of Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) today, Prime Minister Oli, who also serves as the Chancellor of LBU, highlighted the university’s significant contribution to humanity by promoting and preserving Buddhist philosophy.
PM Oli noted that LBU, deeply rooted in Nepal’s conscience, glory, and history, has a vital role in spreading the values of friendship and positivity that Buddha imparted, which remain relevant in today’s world. He emphasized that being a true follower of Buddhist philosophy or a Bhikkhu (monk) requires more than just wearing a robe—it demands a deep understanding and heartfelt commitment to the teachings.
“We have initiated education on Buddhist philosophy, but it is essential to provide quality education that can transform lives. With strong determination and continuous effort, we can achieve development and success,” PM Oli stated.
The Senate meeting, attended by Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Bidhya Bhattarai, approved the university’s policies, programs, and budget for the current fiscal year. Additionally, a ‘grace list’ of 285 students was approved for the convocation ceremony scheduled for December.
