A poacher involved in illegal hunting activities has been killed in an encounter in the Parsa National Park area, Bara district.
The incident occurred when a patrol team, comprising personnel from the Nepal Army and park administration staff, came under fire from a group of poachers at Pakadiwas Thulothali. According to the Army’s Public Relations and Information Directorate, the poachers, who had entered the park area armed, were warned not to flee. However, the poachers responded by firing at the patrol team, prompting the soldiers to retaliate.
During the search operation following the retaliatory firing, the Nepal Army confirmed that one poacher was found dead at the scene. The patrol team also recovered two muzzle-loading guns and other equipment used by the poachers.
The Army further informed that representatives from the Amleshwar Buffer Community Forest Committee, local authorities, park administration, and the Area Police Office in Simara were involved in the investigation of the incident. The body of the deceased has been sent to the relevant health institution for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
