Pokhara Gears Up for Grand Launch of Visit Pokhara Year 2025

Pokhara, Nepal’s tourism capital, is all set to formally launch Pokhara Visit Year 2025 with a grand inaugural ceremony in the first week of Falgun. The much-anticipated event, aimed at attracting two million domestic and international tourists, is scheduled to take place on Falgun 3 (February 15, 2025), Saturday, at the Pokhara Exhibition Center, New Road. The initiative is a significant step towards revitalizing Pokhara’s tourism industry, enhancing its global appeal, and promoting its diverse attractions, culture, and hospitality.

Extensive Preparations for the Grand Announcement

To ensure the successful execution of Pokhara Visit Year 2025, a massive organizing structure has been established under the leadership of Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhana Raj Acharya. The main organizing committee comprises 1,050 members, making it one of the largest tourism-focused committees in Nepal. Additionally, a directorate committee, also led by Mayor Acharya, has been formed along with an executive committee representing key stakeholders from the tourism sector.

To streamline the preparations, 43 sub-committees have been created, involving representatives from government and non-governmental organizations, the four security agencies, business and industrial sectors, media houses, political parties, local development committees, civil society members, and human rights activists. These committees will play a crucial role in organizing and executing the various promotional and operational aspects of the event throughout the year.

Global Promotion and Cultural Showcases

One of the major highlights of Pokhara Visit Year 2025 is the international promotional campaign, which includes the appointment of goodwill ambassadors to promote Pokhara on a global scale. These ambassadors will represent Pokhara in various international tourism events and media campaigns, highlighting its natural beauty, adventure tourism, cultural heritage, and hospitality.

Throughout the year, several promotional events will be organized in different parts of Nepal and abroad to position Pokhara as a must-visit destination for travelers. Various tourism enhancement programs, cultural showcases, and adventure tourism activities will be conducted, ensuring that visitors get an immersive experience of Pokhara’s offerings.

As part of the official announcement event, a grand cultural rally will be organized, featuring representatives from all 33 wards of Pokhara Metropolitan City, dressed in traditional attire. This rally will serve as a visual spectacle, celebrating the cultural diversity and heritage of the region, and will include performances, traditional dances, and musical events.

Official Launch by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel

The official inauguration of Pokhara Visit Year 2025 will be led by Nepal’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel. His presence at the event underscores the national significance of this campaign and the government’s commitment to boosting tourism in Pokhara. The Nepalese government, along with the Gandaki Provincial Government and Pokhara Metropolitan City, is fully dedicated to making this campaign a resounding success.

Aiming for Two Million Tourists: The Road Ahead

With a target of two million tourists, Pokhara aims to leverage its world-renowned adventure tourism, breathtaking natural landscapes, and rich cultural heritage. The city, known for attractions such as Phewa Lake, Sarangkot, Davis Falls, Mahendra Cave, the Annapurna Base Camp trek, and adventure activities like paragliding, zip-lining, and ultra-light flights, expects a significant surge in visitors throughout 2025.
