In a bid to elevate its tourism sector, the Pokhara Metropolitan City (PMC) has launched the ambitious ‘Pokhara for All Seasons’ initiative in collaboration with the private sector. This initiative aims to showcase Pokhara’s natural beauty and diverse landscapes to attract tourists year-round.
Mayor Dhan Raj Acharya unveiled these plans during the presentation of PMC’s annual policies and programs for the fiscal year 2024/25. The centerpiece of this announcement is the designation of 2025 as the ‘Pokhara Visit Year,’ with a target to welcome over 1.5 million tourists to the region.
The Metropolis intends to achieve this goal through strategic partnerships with the federal and provincial governments, as well as the private sector. A comprehensive action plan under the Tourism Capital Pokhara Integrated Strategy will be developed to ensure sustainable and organized development across the city, which serves as the provincial capital of Gandaki Province.
Mayor Acharya emphasized initiatives such as the ‘One Ward One Special Programme,’ aimed at leveraging the unique strengths and attractions of each of Pokhara’s 33 wards. This approach seeks to enhance local identities and foster community involvement in tourism development.
The newly announced policies include the facilitation of investment meetings and events to attract both domestic and foreign investments. The Metropolis will also harness electronic media platforms to promote tourism, including the creation of destination profiles for Pokhara’s key tourist destinations.
As Pokhara prepares to welcome visitors under the banner of ‘Pokhara Visit 2025,’ stakeholders are optimistic about the transformative impact of these initiatives on the city’s economy and tourism industry.
