An interaction program aimed at promoting Pokhara as the tourism capital was successfully held in Singa Tatopani of Myagdi district, bringing together industry leaders, businesspersons, and tourism stakeholders from across Gandaki Province. The event was jointly organized under the Pokhara Visit Year initiative in coordination with the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Participants included entrepreneurs, tourism professionals, journalists, government officials, and elected representatives from all districts of the province.

Call for Regional Cooperation in Tourism Development
Speaking at the program, Mayor of Beni Municipality Surat KC emphasized that the growth of it’s tourism sector would benefit the entire province and the country’s economy as a whole. “Other districts around Pokhara should learn from its tourism development model,” he said, adding that coordinated promotion of surrounding destinations is essential to maximize tourism benefits.
Commitment to Sustaining Visit Year Impact
Coordinator of the Visit Year campaign, Gopi Bhattarai, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders contributing to the initiative and stated that the campaign has already begun to positively influence the tourism sector. He added that the long-term impact of the Visit Year initiative would be significant in strengthening Pokhara’s tourism identity.

Tourism–Economy Link Highlighted by Experts
Presenting a working paper on “Tourism and Economy,” tourism expert Dipendra Pahari highlighted the strong interdependence between tourism growth and economic development. He stressed the importance of active participation from industrial and business communities in tourism promotion. Similarly, Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Gokarna Karki noted that Pokhara and the wider Gandaki Province hold immense tourism potential that must be strategically harnessed.
Focus on Linking Tourism with Local Production
Manhar Kadariya, Chief of the Economic Development Division of Pokhara Metropolitan City, emphasized the need to connect tourism with local production and industries. He stated that integrating local products with tourism activities would not only enhance visitor experiences but also boost local businesses and entrepreneurship.

Private Sector and Institutions Call for Integrated Growth
Other speakers, including Central Committee Member of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Hira Bhattarai, Chatradhar Atraya, Subin Shrestha, and CEO of the Business Promotion Center Nawaraj Adhikari, highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between the private sector and public institutions. They stressed that sustainable tourism development in Pokhara and Gandaki Province requires collective commitment, infrastructure development, and stronger regional branding strategies.
