In a significant political event today, President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to 19 newly-appointed ministers in the government led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Among the prominent appointees, Badri Prasad Pandey has been designated as the new Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
Badri Prasad Pandey, taking on the critical role of overseeing Nepal’s cultural and tourism sectors, brings extensive experience and dedication to his new position. As Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Pandey is expected to spearhead initiatives aimed at promoting Nepal’s rich cultural heritage and expanding the tourism industry. His priorities include enhancing tourism infrastructure, marketing Nepal’s cultural and natural sites on a global scale, and improving the country’s civil aviation sector to better accommodate international visitors.
Pandey’s appointment comes at a time when Nepal is focusing on revitalizing its tourism sector, which is a significant contributor to the national economy. His leadership is anticipated to drive efforts in promoting sustainable tourism, improving visitor experiences, and positioning Nepal as a top global destination for cultural and adventure tourism.
Alongside Pandey, other key ministers sworn in include Prithvi Subba Gurung (Minister for Communications and Information Technology), Ramesh Lekhak (Home Affairs), Sharat Singh Bhandari (Labour, Employment, and Social Security), Dr. Arzu Rana (Foreign Affairs), Pradip Yadav (Water Supply and Sanitation), Balaram Adhikari (Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation), Damodar Bhandari (Industry, Commerce, and Supplies), and Nawal Kishor Shah Sudi (Women, Children, and Senior Citizens).
Devendra Dahal (Physical Infrastructure and Transport), Tejulal Chaudhary (Youth and Sports), Pradip Paudel (Health and Population), Ajay Kumar Chaurasiya (Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs), Ramnath Adhikari (Agriculture and Livestock Development), Bidhya Bhattarai (Education, Science and Technology), Manbir Rai (Defense), Deepak Khadka (Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation), Raj Kumar Gupta (Federal Affairs and General Administration), and Ain Bahadur Shahi (Forests and Environment).
The ceremony, held at the Office of the President, followed the earlier oath-taking by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Deputy Prime Ministers Prakashman Singh and Bishnu Prasad Paudel. The event was attended by Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav, Chief Judge Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Prasad Dahal, outgoing Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, former Prime Ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba, Jhalanath Khanal, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, various political leaders, lawmakers, senior government officials, security agency chiefs, and representatives of Nepal-based diplomatic missions, as well as distinguished personalities from different walks of life.
