The day marks the birth of Lord Krishna, the pioneer of Bhakti yoga, Gyanyoga, and Karmayoga, who was born to Basudev and Devaki as their eighth child at midnight on Bhadra Shukla Astami during the Vedic Dwapar era.
In addition to Shree Krishna Janmashtami, President Paudel also acknowledged the Gaura festival, which is primarily celebrated in the far western regions of Nepal. He noted that this festival has played a significant role in strengthening cultural and religious harmony in the country.
