President Ram Chandra Paudel inaugurated the Jagannath Rath Yatra Festival in a special ceremony organized by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in Kathmandu on Sunday.
During the event, President Paudel participated in the traditional worship and performed the aarti of Lord Jagannath, marking the official commencement of the festival. The ceremony attracted a large gathering of devotees and participants who came to witness and be part of the auspicious occasion.
The Jagannath Rath Yatra, a significant event in the Hindu calendar, involves the procession of the deities Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra on beautifully decorated chariots. The festival symbolizes the journey of Lord Jagannath from his temple to his garden palace in the countryside, providing devotees with a chance to offer their prayers and seek blessings.
In his address, President Paudel highlighted the cultural and spiritual importance of the Rath Yatra, emphasizing its role in fostering unity and devotion among people. He commended ISKCON for organizing the event and preserving the rich traditions and heritage associated with Lord Jagannath.
The ceremony was marked by vibrant displays of music, dance, and devotional songs, creating an atmosphere of joy and reverence. Devotees pulled the chariots through the streets of Kathmandu, chanting holy names and singing bhajans, reflecting the deep spiritual fervor associated with the festival.
ISKCON representatives expressed their gratitude to President Paudel for his presence and support, noting that his participation added to the significance of the event. They also emphasized their commitment to continuing such cultural and religious events to promote peace, harmony, and spiritual growth within the community.
The Jagannath Rath Yatra festival, celebrated with much enthusiasm, serves as a reminder of Nepal’s rich cultural heritage and the enduring faith of its people in their religious traditions.
