President Ramchandra Paudel Emphasizes Contribution to National Unity through Culture and Literature

Today, at Shital Niwas, the official residence of the President, President Ramchandra Paudel highlighted the significant contribution of Nepal’s literary and cultural figures to our national unity and social harmony. The occasion marked the 100th birth anniversary and award ceremony of Janakvikesari Dharmaraj Thapa, organized by the Dharmaraj-Sabitri Thapa Foundation.

President Paudel expressed, “Folk artists and cultural activists are the jewels of our nation. The consciousness of writers, cultural scholars, and artists is the consciousness of our nation, transcending political awareness. They elevate creation above political consciousness.”

Describing Nepal as a country rich in diversity of ethnicity, language, culture, and geography, President Paudel underscored the importance of unity amidst diversity, social and cultural coherence, tolerance, and harmony. He remarked, “Our language, culture, literature, history, and traditions are invaluable treasures. Their development, preservation, and enhancement are essential to strengthening Nepal’s national unity and maintaining its vibrant identity.”

President Poudel also acknowledged the unique contribution of Janak Kavi Kesari Dharmaraj Thapa to Nepali folk literature, emphasizing his dedicated efforts in the study, research, preservation, and promotion of Nepali folk literature, which he believed has never failed to resonate with Nepalis worldwide.

In attendance, Culture Tourism Minister Badri Prasad Pandey and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Pandey described Nepali culture as the soul of Nepali society. Minister Pandey attributed Dharmaraj Thapa’s songs to the economic system based on agriculture during that period and explained Nepali nationalism.

On the occasion, Senior litterateur Bairagi Kaila talked about the central role of folk songs and literature in the recognition and promotion of Nepali cultural heritage worldwide.

Culture expert Dr. Jagman Gurung stated that social harmony and cultural preservation are important for Nepali society and the state should pay special attention to the preservation of the Nepali language and culture.

Professor Dr. Abhi Suvaidi emphasized the importance of globalizing folk literature and culture.

Chairman Madan Raj Thapa explained that the organization has played a role in honoring the creator and creator through its work.

At the event, President Poudel awarded LP Joshi with the Lok Sanskriti Sahitya Award 2080 and Dharmaraj Savitri Thapa with the Lokgeet Sangeet Award of Rs 50,000.
