President Ramchandra Paudel Visits Bhaktapur’s Historic Heritage Sites

President Ramchandra Paudel, accompanied by First Lady Sabita Paudel, visited the historic Bhaktapur Durbar Square today as part of his ‘President at Public Places’ campaign. The President arrived at the Bhaktapur Durbar Area at 11:00 am and spent nearly two hours exploring the World Heritage Site.

During the visit, the President observed several significant landmarks, including the Five-Storied Temple, Aakash Bhairav area at Taumadhi, the Golden Gate, Sundhara, Taleju Temple’s main courtyard, Kumari Chowk, National Art Museum, 55-Window Palace, Pashupatinath, Yaksheshwar Mahadeva Temple, Shilu Mahadeva, Kedarnath Temple, and Akash Bhairav Temple. The President and First Lady paid homage to the deities at Taleju and Akash Bhairav Temples and received blessings.

This visit is part of the President’s monthly initiative to connect with public spaces and heritage sites across Nepal, according to Kiran Pokharel, the President’s press advisor.

Upon arrival, the Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur, Roshani Kumari Shrestha, welcomed the President and First Lady. Gautam Prasad Lasiba, Chief of the Bhaktapur Municipality Tourism Division, provided a detailed overview of the heritage sites.

Several prominent figures were present during the visit, including Nepali Congress Bhaktapur District President and lawmaker Durlabh Thapa, Changu Narayan Municipality Mayor Jeevan Khattri, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality Mayor Surendra Shrestha, and Nepali Congress youth leaders Binod Kayastha, Asta Kumar Kawein, and Haridas Prajapati.

During his tour, President Paudel interacted with the local public and students, listening to their concerns and opinions. A resident, Uddhav Khadka, requested the President to take prompt action for the reconstruction of heritage sites, including the art museum, which were damaged in the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake and are still being supported by temporary poles.
